The field of electrokinetics intersects microfluidics and microdevices, biotechnology, theoretical modeling, material synthesis, nanotechnology and many others. Electrophoretic technologies play a central role in scientific investigations in clinical, basic, and applied disciplines from life sciences through chemistry and physics, to engineering.
